This MOOC aims to bridge the gap in education by giving teachers a fresh perspective into the bioeconomy field and its applications in teaching STEM subjects. The course will do so by presenting the BLOOM School Box, a series of lesson plans co-created by 20 pilot teachers in 10 European countries, which illustrate how bioeconomy can be introduced in different STEM subjects.

This course invites policymakers, school heads and teachers to discuss the results of the MENTEP policy experimentation. More than 7000 teachers in 11 countries participated in the field trials that aimed at testing the impact of TET-SAT, a newly developed online tool for teachers to self-assess their technology-enhanced teaching. Thanks to the eager participation of the randomly selected teachers, MENTEP is one of the biggest experimentations in education across Europe.

The “Opening minds to STEM careers” MOOC is designed to train and empower primary and secondary teachers in successfully introducing and attracting young people to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) professions. The main purpose of the course is to learn how to integrate STEM career orientation activities both in the curriculum and in lesson planning. This will enable teachers to become familiar with STEM career pathways while providing students with the necessary skills to enter the job market.
