Why are the upcoming courses hosted on a new platform?

The European Schoolnet Academy is moving to a new platform and all our courses will be hosted on it starting from autumn 2019. Please note that your account on this platform will not work there. You can create a new account here to register for the three upcoming courses!

After completing the entire course, participants will receive a digital course certificate and a digital course badge. You can find more information on the certification policy of each course in its own Q&A section.

What is the European Schoolnet Academy's code of conduct?

As we are a very diverse group of course participants, it is important that we agree on a framework for interacting with each other. Therefore, please take a look at the Academy's Code of Conduct. By continuing with our courses, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct in all communications associated with those courses' activities.

How do I get the most out of a MOOC?

Learning online, especially in MOOCs, can easily prove overwhelming. We therefore recommend you take a look at the five strategies for learning online below. If you want to look at these strategies in more detail, then check out the short, self-paced mini-course Five Strategies for Learning Online.

  • Strategy 1: Reflect on how you learn best. One of the key characteristics about online learning is that how you learn is to a significant extent up to you. This means you need to reflect on how you learn best. For more information, check out this video.
  • Strategy 2: Plan your learning. Planning your learning is important, and it is advisable to set times in your calendar when you will be working on the course. Think about what works best for your learning and your current schedule. For more ideas, check out this video.
  • Strategy 3: Use a learning diary. It is important to put whatever you find in an online course into the context of your own situation. To do this, and to avoid getting lost in all the material and discussions, you can create a learning diary. For more information, check out the next section of the course introduction, as well as this tutorial.
  • Strategy 4: Build a personal learning network. In most MOOCs, learning doesn't just happen via the course content, but more importantly by connecting to and drawing from the library of experiences, views, and practices that the multitude of participants bring to the course. Ideally, through participation in the course, you will build or extend your personal learning network online. For more details on this, see this video.
  • Strategy 5: Find support when you need it. The team behind each course is usually very small, making it difficult to respond to questions in a timely manner. Therefore, you will always be better off trying to find an answer yourself, then directing your question to your peers. Only if neither of these methods has yielded a solution should you go to the course team for support. For more details on how to find support, check out this video.

Who can I ask for help?

If you have questions about a course, please visit its dedicated FAQ section. If you cannot find your answer there, please leave a message on the forum under the category "Technical questions or issues" and we will answer it there, as some of your colleagues may also have the same question.

If you have general questions about the European Schoolnet Academy, please check this FAQ section, where you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions.

If neither of these methods yields results, please contact our helpdesk, and we will do our best to help you.
