Webinar: An introduction to teaching text-based coding with the new micro:bit Python Editor
Date: Thursday, 3 November, 17:00 CET
You can download the presentation slides here.
During this hands-on webinar we will explore the new micro:bit Pyhton editor. During this beginners’ guide, you will be able to write your own code and run it in the simulator or in micro:bit if you have one, and you will be introduced to resources and tips for taking Python and text-based coding teaching to the next level. To participate in the session, you do not need to have a micro:bit or to be familiar with it. If you do have one, you can bring it to the session. The session will be guided by two expert micro:bit trainers: Giles Booth, Education Content Manager at the micro:bit Educational Foundation, and Lucy Gill , Product Manager at the micro:bit Educational Foundation.
Lucy Gill Lucy is responsible for product across the Foundation – both physical and digital – including the new micro:bit Python Editor. She steers the evolution of all the Foundation’s products with particular passion for optimising user experience, educational effectiveness, accessibility and the diversity of their appeal. She has worked in the EdTech sector for over a decade across a range of STEM and literacy related products. She also volunteered for 5 years as a STEM Ambassador, running a local, weekly Digital Maker Club, introducing children to micro:bit as well as a range of other coding-related products.

Giles Booth manages education content including projects and lessons on microbit.org as well as writing micro:bit professional development courses. He worked with subject matter experts to create the educational content in the new micro:bit Python Editor. He formerly taught computing in all ages between 4 and 16, and before that worked in BBC radio.
Live chat with the Humans of CodeWeek
Date: Wednesday, 12 October, 17:00 CEST
You can download the presentation slides here.
Stefania Altieri, Arthur Coelho and Éva Tóth - leading teachers from Italy, Portugal and Hungary respectively, will join us for a live chat on Wednesday 12 October 2022, at 17:00 CEST to share their experience with bringing coding to their schools and classrooms. They will be talking about using coding as a form of creative and artistic expression, organizing school thematic weeks, collaboration with eTwinning teachers, and blended learning in study groups.

Artur Coelho is an ICT teacher at Agrupamento de Escolas Venda do Pinheiro in Portugal, member of Lab Aberto Fablab, and also a trainer at ANPRI and CFAERC. He is passionate about how digital technology can spark students' creativity and become a medium for artistic expression, either with AI, coding, robotics, and 3D modelling, scanning and printing. He firmly believes that a deep understanding of digital is a necessary factor of empowerment for all our pupils.

Éva Tóth is the ambassador of eTwinning in the Hungarian capital, Budapest and a teacher at BMSZC Petrik Lajos Vocational School. She has been a teacher of English in vocational education for 11 years. She has experience in project-based learning, as well as organizing thematic weeks, national and international projects and events such as the Digital Thematic Week, European Codeweek and Safer Internet Day. Her main focus at work is on intercultural and cross-curricular projects as they help her and her students to bridge the gap between education and the world of work. It is her mission to help and motivate her fellow colleagues and share good practices: being an ambassador and a trainer, she not only holds frequent personal and online workshops or conferences, but also she has been the editor-in-chief of a Hungarian pedagogical website for educators, Modern Iskola for more than 3 years now.

Stefania Altieri is an Italian teacher, currently working at the Italian Ministry of Education. She is Scientix Ambassador and Coding@schools eTwinning feature group Moderator. She likes ICT and innovative teaching approaches. She believes in the role of educator of new generations for a better and responsible future.
