The course aims to provide EUN staff, in particular colleagues who have been assigned the course coordinator role, with an introduction to the MOOC development process from start to finish.

  • Understanding the principles of good MOOC design
  • Understanding the processes and roles of the Academies team
  • Identifying the rationale and aims of your own MOOC
  • Preparing a schedule for the MOOC design and production phase
  • Defining MOOC structure and components
  • Familiarising yourself with the course platform

Prerequisites

This course is intended for European Schoolnet staff who are interested in coordinating a course in the future, or just curious about MOOC design and development.

  • Module 2: Design and production - general principles and content
  • Module 3: Design and production - activities and assessment
  • Module 4: Promotion, delivery, evaluation

Certification

In order to earn a course certificate, course participants need to pass four quizzes, one at the end of each module.

Behind the course

Benjamin Hertz

Benjamin is a senior pedagogical manager at European Schoolnet where he is responsible for the pedagogical management of the European Schoolnet Academy and in charge of the professional development offer on the European School Education Platform, the European Commission’s website for the school education community. He has a background in educational technology with a particular interest in online learning and teacher professional development. Educated as a classroom teacher, he has been involved in the planning and delivery of online learning projects since 2011.

Efi Saltidou

Efi works as pedagogical and project coordinator in European Schoolnet. Currently, she acts as instructional designer and course coordinator for EU Academy of European School Education Platform and supports the pedagogical and professional development activities in other EUN projects.

Jelena Milenković

Jelena works as an Operational Manager in the FCL/ESEP Department of European Schoolnet (EUN). She serves as the Operational Manager for the European Schoolnet Academy and FCL CPD courses for teachers. Since joining European Schoolnet in 2018, Jelena has been coordinating the Academy's activities and developing MOOCs for various projects, including Google, Scientix, TIWI, NBS, and STE(A)M IT. Additionally, she consistently facilitates teacher training courses at the Future Classroom Lab.

Ismini Georgiadi

Ismini previously worked in Brussels as an Editorial Officer for European Schoolnet. In this role, she managed the day-to-day operations of the School Education Gateway's Teacher Academy and assisted with web editing for the European Schoolnet Academy.

Koen Glotzbach

Koen now works on the European School Education Platform. He was previously the EUN Academy platform's communication officer and he used to manage the technical development. Interested in open source software (which the EUN Academy runs on), he is an active contributor to that community both at work and home.

Antoine Bilgin

Antoine, pedagogical and research manager at European Schoolnet (EUN), has been an education content developer in various science education projects as well as policy experimentations and other Erasmus+ projects. He coordinates the statistics and evaluation of EUN Academy courses and various EUN projects. He conducts case studies and coordinates the collection of good pracices in the area of digital assessment and data literacy. He is a teacher trainer specialising in classroom assessment practices and data and science literacy. He carries out desk research combining scientific literature review and education policy analysis to support the translation of research into policy recommendations. He is specialised in the Psychology of Learning and Cognitive Neuroscience, with a Research Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Amsterdam and Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from Ege University..
