In this webinar, representatives from the MLCE project partners, Tactical Tech, Save the Children Italia, IFLA and European Schoolnet, will discuss what young people need in the present and the near future in order to be media literate online. You will also hear about the experiences of project partners from working with educators and young people in co-development sessions that shaped the creation of the ‘Everywhere, All the Time’ MLCE exhibition materials.
Maria De Brasdefer
Maria is the Policy & Research Officer for Digital Affairs at IFLA where she leads on themes at the intersection of digital rights, digital inclusion, freedom of access to information and internet governance. She also coordinates joint projects on digital literacy in collaboration with other organizations. Her previous working experiences include the public, international and non profit sectors. She holds a Master's of science in Public Policy & Human Development from the United Nations University UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University and is passionate about information literacy and education, in particular to themes and initiatives that cater to underserved and vulnerable populations.
Helderyse Rendall
Helderyse Rendall works at Tactical Tech, leading the organization's youth initiative, What the Future Wants. She has been focusing on developing playful and innovative critical digital literacy resources and coordinating with partners across the globe to foster dialogue and learning spaces for youth at the intersection of tech and society.
Before joining Tactical Tech, she worked in policy and advocacy, leading international projects and processes mainly related to human rights and citizenship education, political participation and youth policy. She has a master’s in Linguistics and post-graduation in International studies.
TeachMeet: Innovative approaches to teaching media literacy

Join us to hear your fellow MOOC participants and teachers involved in the MLCE project share their experiences of using creative and innovative approaches to teaching media literacy. You will have opportunity to ask questions, comments and share your own experiences too.
A TeachMeet is an informal way of sharing ideas, good practices, lesson plans, etc. It is also a great way to network with other teachers and educators!
Save the date for the TeachMeet on Thursday 30 May in which you will get to exchange not only with your peers We will share best practices and great ideas for your Learning Scenario. In the end of this TeachMeet, you will also have the chance to ask questions to the speakers.
If you are interested in participating as a speaker in the TeachMeet of the "Empowering Educators for the Next Digital Decade MOOC" on Thursday, 30 May at 17:00 CEST, fill in the questions in this form. However, before doing that, please bear in mind the following:
- Due to time constraints, the slots for speakers in this TeachMeet are limited. Only 4 number speakers will be admitted. The speakers will be selected on the basis of what you submit in this registration form.
- Have in mind that the rehearsal of the TeachMeet is on Monday, 27 May at 17:00 CEST and this is COMPULSORY for speakers. However, you can always participate in the TeachMeet as an attendee – just follow the connection instructions on the course platform.
